Baldur's Gate III will not have cross-play at launch, but developers are considering adding it in the future

It's probably obvious to everyone that Baldur's Gate III is a great project to play alone, but as with Divinity: Original Sin 2, Larian Studios will also add a co-op mode for those who still want to play the game with friends. However, will it be possible to play with friends on another platform?

Here's What We Know

In short, no. At least at the time of release, there will be no cross-play, but the developers noted that they are considering adding this feature after the game's release. One of the developers, Larian Studios, said in a recent interview with Wcctech: "At launch, BG3 will have cross-save between PC and PlayStation 5, and after the release, we will consider cross-play."

For example, Divinity: Original Sin 2 had limited cross-play support, where it could be played by users on PC, Mac and iPad. It is not yet known whether Baldur's Gate 3 will have a similar feature, but the cross-save feature is already a positive step in this direction.

When We Can Expect It

The official release of Baldur's Gate III for PC will take place on the 3rd of August, and the version for PlayStation 5 will be available on the 6th of September.
