The first smartphone with a built-in screen fingerprint scanner will be released in January

At the CES 2018 exhibition, the Chinese company Vivo showed a prototype of a smartphone with a built-in fingerprint scanner on the screen. And today there was information about the start of sales and the price of new items.

Name and characteristics

They say the company has already begun mass production of a new device, called Vivo X20 Plus UD. After CES, it could be assumed that the smartphone will be shown on MWC 2018, but most likely it will happen sooner.

Vivo X20 Plus UD will receive 6.43-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 18: 9, Snapdragon 660, 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, as well as a battery for 3900 mAh. Feature of the device will be the technology of the fingerprint scanner from Synaptics, which works only with OLED and AMOLED-displays.

The scanner will be located between the protective glass and the OLED panel. When the finger touches a certain area of ​​the screen, the OLED matrix highlights this area and unlocks the device. It is worth noting that the speed of this process is slightly longer than with a conventional scanner.

Price and start of sales

Vivo X20 Plus UD will go on sale at the end of this month. The cost of the smartphone is ¥ 3698 (about $ 574).
