New press photos Samsung Galaxy S9 / S9 + and all the characteristics of the flagships

Next Sunday Samsung will present new flagship smartphones Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + at the MWC 2018, but Evan Blass and Roland Kwandt decided to completely ruin the whole intrigue. Famous insiders published official images of new products (dandelions inspired memories of Galaxy S3), and @rquandt also reported the characteristics of European versions.

Endless display, powerful "heart"

The dimensions of the displays in the new generation of devices have not changed - these are the same Super AMOLED panels with a resolution of 2960x1440 and a ratio of 18.5: 9. And in the 5.8-inch Galaxy S9, and in the 6.2-inch Galaxy S9 + the lower frame has become even thinner. The case became slightly more angular, as in Galaxy Note 8.

We will sell models on the proprietary 10-nanometer eight-core chipset Exynos 9810 with 18-core Mali-G72 graphics. Standard Galaxy S9 will receive 4 GB of RAM, and the Plus version is 6 GB. The built-in UFS 2.1 drive and 64 GB both and there is a slot for microSD memory cards.

New cameras

In this generation, only Galaxy S9 Plus got a dual camera with an additional module of 12 megapixels to blur the background in the photos. Sensors with built-in memory allow you to take slow-motion shooting at up to 960 frames per second in HD resolution (exactly like Sony's flagships), but the function has not been confirmed yet. Perhaps, the company will leave only mode with a frequency of 480 frames per second with Full HD.

The front 8-megapixel camera with f / 1.7 diaphragm is equipped with autofocus. For unlocking, both face recognition and the iris scanner are used. In Korean advertising Samsung also hinted at the function of animated emoticons.

What else?

Smartphones are enclosed in a glass case with a metal frame. There is protection against dust and water according to IP68, which allows you to withstand a 30-minute dive to a depth of 1.5 meters. Under the back cover of the Galaxy S9, a 3000 mAh battery is hidden, and the Galaxy S9 + has received a battery with a capacity of 3500 mAh. There are no changes compared to the Galaxy S8 / S8 +. The fingerprint reader is under the camera module, and now it will be easier to reach it. Another change is AKG's stereo speakers. 3.5-mm headphone jack, too, has not gone anywhere.

As the operating system is Android 8.0 with an updated shell Samsung Experience 9. In Europe, will be sold models of black, blue and new purple. In some markets, a gray version is also expected:

Price and time of release

Soon after the presentation on February 25 in Barcelona, ​​the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 + will go on sale. The beginning of deliveries is expected on March 8, 2018. The prices will be about 100 euros higher than the predecessors, that is 900 euros or 1000 euros for "plus".
