Google can buy a division of Nokia Health
After the acquisition of the French manufacturer of "smart" devices Withings in 2016, Nokia has not been able to achieve significant success in this market. The Division of Digital Health does not bring profit, and everything goes to selling the business. If you believe insiders, one of the potential buyers is the Internet giant Google.
To be or not to be
In February, Nokia reported the problems of Digital Health and the search for "strategic alternatives." Then, in an internal letter for employees, top managers said they did not yet see a way to make the unit "a significant part of such a big company like Nokia." It's easier to get rid of, and it seems that the leadership is inclined to such a decision.
Who is willing to pay?
According to rumors, now Nokia Health has four applicants for the purchase. The list is Nest, which recently became part of Google . Business was also interested in two unnamed French companies and another one not from Europe. It is reported that, because of concerns about the safety of personal data of users (after Facebook will notify users whose data came to Cambridge Analytica ) the authorities of France may try to block the sale of the former Withings to foreign investors.
Today, the line of Nokia Health includes fitness bracelets, smart watches, scales, tonometers, thermometers and devices for monitoring sleep .
