Dune 3 news: Denis Villeneuve says he's not going to rush into a third film

The director of two parts of "Dune", Denis Villeneuve, has not yet let the audience enjoy the second film, but is already thinking about a sequel. According to the director, he has an incredible desire to work on the third film, but will not rush for now.

Here's What We Know

Villeneuve's ambition to film all three parts of his interpretation of Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novel certainly gives hope that "Dune 3" to be, but probably not anytime soon.

-"There is absolutely a desire to have a third one, but I don't want to rush it. The danger in Hollywood is that people get excited and only think about release dates, not quality." he told The Times.

Doubts about filming a third instalment are also put to rest by the success of "Dune: Part Two". Although the official release is still a few days away, the film is already generating a lot of excitement. It has great reviews, a near perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and even sincere praise from Christopher Nolan, who compared it to "Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back" (widely recognised as one of the best sequels of all time).

Such an assessment flattered Villeneuve, who noted that he would never have dared to make such a comparison on his own, especially since "The Empire Strikes Back" is his favourite film in the Star Wars universe.

Here's What The Movie Is About

The plot of "Dune 3" hasn't even been discussed yet, but it's speculated that the third film will likely adapt the first sequel to Herbert's novel, which is called "Dune: Messiah."

As a reminder, "Dune: Part Two" will be released in cinemas as early as March 1.
