DoorDash tests drone delivery service in Virginia

DoorDash, one of the leading online food delivery platforms, has announced its pilot drone delivery programme.

Here's What We Know

Drone delivery testing has begun in Christiansburg, Virginia. Currently, it is limited to orders from the Wendy's fast food chain. The company plans to expand the programme to other US cities.

According to DoorDash, their drones should be able to deliver orders in 30 minutes or less, making them about as fast as pizza delivery in the 1980s.

This is not the first time DoorDash has launched a similar programme. In 2022, they already partnered with Wing in Australia. Wing is also known for successful deliveries from Walmart in Dallas.

According to Wing, their new drones can travel at speeds of up to 65 miles per hour and lift up to five pounds of cargo, making them one of the leaders in this field.
