Tekken game series sales exceed 57 million copies: franchise producer reveals where Bandai Namco's fighting games are bought the most

Tekken franchise has been one of the most popular fighting games for almost 30 years.

The developers from Bandai Namco know well the tastes of their audience and always give it what it expects, thanks to what Tekken games sell well, which is confirmed by the producer of the series.

Here's What We Know

Speaking with Sony Interactive Entertainment's Head of Independent Developer Relations Shuhei Yoshida, Tekken Producer Katsuhiro Harada revealed that prior to the release of Tekken 8, the series had sold 55 million copies and is currently selling over 57 million copies.

Katsuhiro Harada specified that half of all Tekken sales (51%) fall on Europe, 30% - on the USA.

Many people will probably be surprised that Japan is not the leader in popularity of the series. Harada explained that Japanese gamers traditionally prefer to play fighting games on arcade machines, while Western users buy games on PC and consoles.
