Superman's parents have found their faces: James Gunn has revealed who will play Jonathan and Martha Kent in the upcoming 'Superman'

James Gunn has repeatedly stated that his upcoming "Superman" will not just be a reboot of the story, but will tell the story of the hero's difficult journey as he strives to reconcile his Kryptonian origins with his human upbringing. Consequently, an important part of the story will be Clark Kent's parents, Jonathan and Martha Kent, who help the hero adapt to life on Earth and control his abilities. Now we know who will embody them on screen.

Here's What We Know

Pruitt Taylor Vince, known for The Walking Dead, True Blood and Infamous, has reportedly been confirmed for the role of Jonathan Kent in Gunn's film. He has also previously worked on projects in the DC Comics universe, having played the role of Hennessy's father in Constantine with Keanu Reeves.

Neva Howell, known for her roles in Burden (2018) and the sci-fi series Beckinfield (2010), has been confirmed for the role of Martha Kent.

David Corenswet will star as Superman and Lois Lane will be played by Rachel Brosnahan. The villainous Lex Luthor will be played by Nicholas Hoult.

In addition, Gunn continues to add to the cast by introducing viewers to a variety of characters from the DC universe. Matamorpho will be played by Anthony Carrigan of "Barry" fame, Guy Gardner/Green Lantern will be portrayed by Nathan Fillion, and the role of Supergirl goes to "House of the Dragon" star Milly Alcock.

When We Can Expect It

As a reminder, Gunn previously announced the start of filming. "Superman: Legacy" is expected in cinemas on July 11, 2025.
