YouTube is launching a "Hype" feature to help smaller channels gain popularity and engage audiences
Every year it becomes more and more difficult for new bloggers and streamers to gain popularity on
YouTube and to be noticed against the background of competitors with multi-million views and a huge number of subscribers.
To help small channels attract attention, YouTube is preparing a new feature for viewers.
Here's What We Know
With the help of the "Hype" function, subscribers of channels with less than 500 thousand followers will be able to "promote" favourite videos.
The system is implemented in such a way: every week users can use three "Hype" - this will help content creator to promote his video in the virtual leaderboard and make it seen by more viewers
The three Hype limit will prevent users from mindlessly promoting all video creators and will have to make a choice. However, YouTube will allow viewers to buy additional Hype, with the video host noting that the money raised will go towards supporting bloggers and monetising their activities.
As part of the test, users promoted 50,000 channels using more than 5 million Hypes.
It's not yet known when the Hype feature will fully launch, but it's unlikely to take long.
