Skoda has unveiled the Superb Hatch iV plug-in hybrid: 120 km range on electric power
The fourth generation Skoda Superb will soon be available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain (PHEV). It supports driving in all-electric mode with a range of up to 120 kilometres in the WLTP cycle.

The second-generation hybrid powertrain in the Superb Hatch iV combines a 110 kW (150 hp) turbocharged 1.5 TSI four-cylinder petrol engine with an electric motor. Their combined peak power output reaches 150 kW (204 hp), with torque transmitted to the front wheels via a six-speed DSG gearbox. The 25.7 kWh high-voltage battery consists of four modules and is located under the rear seats.
A three-phase permanent magnet synchronous electric motor is integrated into the transmission and separated from the internal combustion engine by a coupling. This motor can operate independently to propel the vehicle or be paired with a petrol engine. In "E" mode, the electric motor provides a maximum power output of 85 kW and a torque of 330 Nm. It also serves to start the internal combustion engine and replaces the traditional alternator.
The Superb Hatch iV uses its 1.5 TSI petrol engine and electric motor in three configurations depending on the selected driving mode. In addition to the standard driving modes found in the Superb range (Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual), the Superb Hatch iV offers three additional hybrid modes: E-mode, Hybrid mode and Sport mode.
The traction battery supports DC fast charging with up to 50kW, allowing it to be charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in 26 minutes. It can also be charged from 0 to 100 per cent in 2.5 hours using a domestic wall charger or an AC charging station with a maximum charging rate of 11 kW. While driving, the battery is recharged using regenerative braking.
The Skoda Superb Hatch iV will go on sale in international markets in the coming weeks. Pricing has not yet been announced.
