Donald Trump announces a $500 billion investment project for AI development
The CEOs of leading tech companies OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle will create Stargate. Initially, $100 billion will be invested in it, and in the coming years, it is planned to invest up to $500 billion.

US President Donald Trump called the project "the largest AI infrastructure project in history". The project is expected to create 100,000 jobs in the US. The first data centre is already under construction in Texas.
Stargate will create the "physical and virtual infrastructure for next-generation AI". Industry leaders have repeatedly emphasised the importance of such centres, as well as the need for appropriate chips, electricity, and water resources to power AI.

According to Altman, the Stargate project will help the United States stay ahead of China in the "AI race," which is critical for both the economy and national security. The OpenAI document emphasises that investments in AI infrastructure will contribute to US economic growth and job creation.
The project will be funded by SoftBank, while OpenAI will be responsible for operational activities and MGX will also contribute to the investment.
Previous joint initiatives between the US government and technology companies, such as the Foxconn project in Wisconsin, have had mixed results. Stargate has now been declared to be of strategic importance to US national security and re-industrialisation.
