Surgent Studios, known for its afro-futuristic metroidvania Tales of Kenzera: Zau, has announced a collaboration with Palworld publisher Pocketpair to create a new horror game.

Here's What We Know

The new project will be the first release of the newly created Pocketpair Publishing division. The game will be released later in 2025 and will not be connected to the Tales of Kenzera universe.

Abubakar Saleem, CEO of the studio, said that they noticed a certain pattern in the entertainment industry and wanted to explore it through the game format. "It's going to be a short and strange horror that we hope will interest players," he said.

Earlier, the studio was on the verge of closure due to lack of funding after the release of Tales of Kenzera: Zau. The partnership with Pocketpair allowed the team to continue development and create a completely new project.

John Buckley, the head of the new publishing division, emphasised that their goal is to help talented developers realise their wildest ideas.

The details of the game are still kept secret. It is only known that it will be a short horror with a unique concept.
