Perplexity releases AI app that can book a taxi, find a table in a restaurant, and even translate Shakespeare

Perplexity has now introduced a new Android application, Perplexity Assistant, which uses artificial intelligence to perform various tasks.
Here's What We Know
Perplexity Assistant allows users to perform several tasks simultaneously. The app can, for example, book a taxi through Uber, find a table in a restaurant, play a YouTube video, play music, find directions on a map, or even translate Shakespeare's text.
What makes Perplexity Assistant special is its ability to maintain context between different actions. For example, you can ask about the outcome of a basketball match and then receive notifications about changes in the game. In addition, the app uses its own AI search to retrieve results from the web and has the ability to use the phone's camera to identify objects or elements of the environment.
We are excited to launch the Perplexity Assistant to all Android users. This marks the transition for Perplexity from an answer engine to a natively integrated assistant that can call other apps and perform basic tasks for you. Perplexity Assistant is currently available for free download on Android. The app supports 15 languages, including English, Spanish, German, Hindi, French, Korean, and Japanese. Although this is still the first version of the app, Aravind Srinivas, CEO of Perplexity, noted that the company is working to improve the product, as some features may not work perfectly the first time.
Moving from Google Assistant or Gemini to Perplexity Assistant seems to be a logical step, as the new app is capable of performing many more tasks. Perplexity aims to become a powerful alternative for those looking for an intelligent assistant on their phone.
