MSI, NVIDIA's main partner, has officially confirmed a shortage of RTX 50 series GPUs, which will affect their availability on launch day.

Here's What We Know

The company has stated that it will not have enough of these GPUs available on 30 January due to insufficient supply from NVIDIA. This will especially affect the availability of the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 models, which will go on sale on 30 January.

It will be extremely difficult for customers to buy these GPUs at the recommended retail price or even higher prices as they will not be available in large quantities. The reason for the shortage was poor communication between NVIDIA and its board partners.

Most manufacturers have not received enough chips to make their custom versions, and some retailers have received RTX 5090s in the single digits.

In some regions, prices for the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 have skyrocketed to the point where they are now double the official recommended retail price. Availability of these cards is expected to improve in February, but it will happen gradually.
