Estonia receives first batch of French Caesar air defence systems

The first batch of French 155 mm Caesar wheeled self-propelled artillery systems has been delivered to Estonia, ERR reports.
Here's What We Know
Before the start of the full-scale war, Estonia planned to create two artillery battalions, but after the decision to form a division, it became necessary to expand the artillery fleet. In June 2024, the country ordered 12 Caesar self-propelled artillery systems from France's Nexter (part of KNDS) with an option for an additional order.

The first batch was due to arrive in 2024, and the second in 2025. According to ERR, the second batch is expected this summer. The Caesars will be operated by conscripts who have already started training on the new systems. By the end of the year, all 12 howitzers will be mastered by both conscripts and reservists, said Rauno Wightmann, procurement project manager.
In addition, Turkish armoured personnel carriers and armoured vehicles continue to arrive in Estonia. Under a €200 million contract signed in 2023, the country will receive 100 Nurol Makina NMS 4×4 armoured vehicles and 130 Otokar ARMA 6×6 armoured personnel carriers.
