Rumours: support for free fighting game MultiVersus may be terminated after season 5
According to an AusilMVS insider, the fifth season of the free-to-play fighting game MultiVersus may be the last, depending on its success. The new season is expected to start in February, adding new characters, maps, and cosmetic items. Among the possible new fighters are Aquaman and Lola Bunny.
Here's What We Know
After the official launch in May 2024, MultiVersus faced difficulties in maintaining an active audience. Warner Bros. reported a significant underperformance of the game's revenue targets, which resulted in a loss of $100 million in 2024.
Currently, the number of active players on Steam is about 300, which indicates a significant outflow of players. If the fifth season fails to restore interest in the game, there is a possibility that support for it will be discontinued.
For now, the game is still in its 4th season, so the authors have time to figure out how to attract the audience.
