NetEase, a large Chinese gaming holding company, continues to reduce its international investments, which is causing concern among fans of studios that are related to the Chinese company. However, Rebel Wolves, which is partially owned by NetEase, assures that its operations will not be affected by these changes.

Here's What We Know

Rebel Wolves, which is working on The Blood of Dawnwalker under the leadership of Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, the former director of The Witcher 3, said that most of the studio's property belongs to its employees, and NetEase is only a minority shareholder. In general, the development of the game is going on without financial problems and is fully funded in advance.

NetEase started to reduce its international investments at the end of last year, when it cut jobs and suspended projects at Worlds Untold, Jar of Sparks, and Liquid Sword studios. The company recently cut staff at its US Marvel Rivals team, despite the game's success, citing optimising development efficiency.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is a single-player open-world dark fantasy game being developed on Unreal Engine 5 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The game is set in the fictional kingdom of Vale Sangora, located in the Carpathian Mountains in the 14th century. Players explore a detailed world filled with supernatural creatures, moral dilemmas, and political intrigue. The protagonist, Cohen, is a young man turned into a Dawnwalker, forced to balance between the world of day and the realm of night. He battles silver poisoning and a vampire curse as he tries to save his family within 30 days.
