The official presentation of the new MacBook Air models, about which there have been a lot of rumours for a long time, has taken place.

Here's What We Know

As expected, the two new MacBook Air models have a powerful M4 chip that is twice as powerful as the MacBook Air M1 in normal tasks and three times more efficient in AI. The new product supports all Apple Intelligence capabilities.

As before, Apple offers customers laptops with 13" and 15" screens. The computers got 10 CPU cores and up to 10 GPU cores, and supports up to 32GB of combined memory instead of the previous 24GB. The device comes with 16GB of RAM in the base configuration.

Thanks to the increased performance, MacBook Air can now display on two external displays at up to 6K resolution while leaving its own screen running - previously only possible when the lid is closed.

MacBook Air M4 has a new webcam with support for Centre Stage, which can keep people in the frame even when they're moving, and Desk View.

The updated laptops will come in four case colours, Silver, Starlight, Midnight and a new Sky Blue colour.

Price & When We Can Expect It

In the US, the MacBook Air 13" (16GB+256GB) will sell for $999 - $100 cheaper than the previous model, while a laptop with a 15-inch display will cost $1199.

Sales start on 12 March, with pre-orders already open.
