A Google spokesperson has confirmed that Android 16 will be released earlier than usual - in June this year

Google confirmed at MWC 2025 that a new version of its Android 16 operating system will be released earlier than usual, in June 2025.
Here's What We Know
Previously, the company used to introduce Android updates in the third or fourth quarter of the year, but this time it has changed its approach. At MWC 2025, Android ecosystem president Sameer Samat said that development is on track despite the team facing the usual bug fixing challenges.
Google has introduced a new development model called Trunk Stable, which helps to speed up the process of integrating changes and reduce time to fix issues. This decision is aimed at giving the company's partners more time to customise the update for their devices.
Android 16 is expected to become available for Google Pixel devices first, and then for other manufacturers.
