Apple continues to develop a new version of AirPods with cameras that will be able to analyse the environment and provide useful information using artificial intelligence.

Here's What We Know

It was reported by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.

The journalist emphasised that instead of the usual cameras, AirPods will use infrared sensors.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in June 2024 that the company plans to start mass production of new AirPods with infrared cameras by 2026. According to him, the infrared sensor will be similar to the Face ID module in the iPhone.

These new AirPods with infrared cameras can enhance the spatial sound experience when paired with Apple's Vision Pro headset. For example, when watching a video through Vision Pro and using the new AirPods, if the user turns their head in a certain direction, the sound will be focused on that direction. This will improve the effect of spatial sound.

It is also likely that these cameras will be able to allow gesture control in the air, which will allow you to interact with devices through hand gestures.

If the mass production schedule doesn't change, the new AirPods with infrared cameras could be launched in 2026 or 2027.

Mark Gurman also said that Apple has decided to postpone the launch of its Apple Smart Home Hub due to a delay in the introduction of new features for Siri. According to him, the company initially planned to announce the device in March, but due to the hub's dependence on the updated Siri, the deadline was postponed.
