Electric car with petrol engine: technical specifications of Mazda EZ-60 crossover revealed

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has revealed the technical specifications of the new Mazda EZ-60 crossover. As expected, the car will debut in a version with a petrol generator (range extender) and a relatively small high-voltage battery.
Here's What We Know
Mazda EZ-60 is not typical for the Japanese brand - both in design and technical stuffing. The model is actually the twin brother of the Deepal S07 of the Chinese company Changan - Mazda's joint venture partner. The first images of the car appeared earlier this month, and now the first specifications of the model have been revealed online.
The new EZ-60 is powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The internal combustion engine does not drive the wheels - its task is to recharge the 31.7 kW∙h battery. According to the Chinese CLTC cycle, the electric range is 160 kilometres. The total range of the trip with the internal combustion engine is not yet named, but in the sedan EZ-6 with a similar powertrain it reaches 1300 km, which puts it on a par with European diesel "truckers".

The 255 hp electric motor is mounted on the rear axle. According to MIIT, the curb weight of the vehicle is 1,992kg. There are also plans for an all-electric version of the EZ-60, but its specifications have not yet been revealed. Apparently, it will be significantly heavier due to the larger battery.
EZ-60 and EZ-6 models are interesting not only for the Chinese market. The sedan has already received an export version called 6e for Europe. The crossover will also be exported, probably under the name CX-6e.
