In March 2025, Xiaomi introduced the Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro tablets to the international market, but the company did not specify how many years of software updates each of them will receive.

Here's What's New About It

Recently, this information appeared on the company's official website, and it turned out that there is a significant difference in update support between the models.

The Pad 7 Pro will receive only two major Android updates (up to Android 17) and security patches until 2028. This is significantly less than the more affordable Pad 7 model, which will receive four Android updates to Android 19 and security support until 2031.

In total, the Pad 7 will receive four years of updates and six years of security support, while the Pad 7 Pro will only receive two years of updates and three years of security support.

It is not known why there is such a big difference in support between the two models, given that the Pad 7 Pro is a more expensive device with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip.

As a reminder, both tablets were released in China in October 2024 and feature an 11.2-inch display with a 3.2K resolution, 144Hz refresh rate, and up to 800 nits of brightness. The Pad 7 is equipped with a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 chip, while the Pad 7 Pro is powered by the more powerful Snapdragon 8s Gen 3.

Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro supports 67W fast charging and is compatible with Wi-Fi 7. The Xiaomi Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro are available in three colours: grey, green and blue.
