Google, known for its penchant for shutting down its products, may be preparing to end support for the Google Play Games app.

Here's What We Know

According to coder AssembleDebug, the company has started moving key features of this app to the Google Play Store. For example, the ability to track achievements, which was previously only available in Google Play Games, is now integrated into the Play Store. Google is also reportedly planning to add game profile management and interaction with other gamers to Google Play at a later date.

The Google Play Games app for Android, which launched in 2013, has not received significant updates for a long time. This has increased speculation about its possible closure. However, Google Play Games for PC, which appeared in 2022, although still in beta, continues to evolve and provides many tools for playing Android games on computers.

The exact timeline for the end of support for Google Play Games for Android is not yet known. It is not expected to happen until all key features are moved to the Play Store at the earliest. Considering that the end of 2025 is still a long way off, Google has plenty of time to implement these changes.
