Although Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate has hardly appeared in the news since its announcement in 2021, series creator and game director Yuji Horii continues to assure that development is actively underway.

Here's What We Know

During a speech at Comic Con Napoli in an interview with GameReactor, he once again noted that the team is working hard, although he cannot share details yet. According to him, the game is being created with a lot of dedication, and fans can expect a truly decent release.

Horii also suggested that Dragon Quest 12 may well be released on Nintendo Switch 2, although there is no official confirmation of this yet.

Back in February 2025, he confirmed during a broadcast that Square Enix was "working hard on the game" and that more news would be released gradually. In May 2024, he publicly apologised for the lack of communication and added that he wanted to create a project that would honour the memory of composer Koichi Sugiyama and artist Akira Toriyama, who had already passed away.

Where To Play

The game is being developed on Unreal Engine 5, and it is expected to be released simultaneously worldwide. The platforms have not been revealed yet, but PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC are likely.
