The eighth-generation Lexus ES is unveiled in Europe: now hybrids and electric versions

Lexus presented in Europe the eighth generation of ES sedan - the premiere took place a month after the debut in Shanghai. The novelty will enter the market in spring 2026 and will be offered with hybrid and all-electric powertrains.
Here's What We Know
The ES model is a key model in the line-up of Toyota Motor's premium brand. It was first revealed in 1989, but it has only been available in Western Europe since the seventh generation in 2018, while Eastern European countries received the ES in 2010. The new ES enters European markets with a much changed design, new powertrains and a noticeable increase in size.
The new ES has increased in dimensions: length - 5.14 m (+165 mm), width - 1.92 m (+55 mm), height - 1.55-1.56 m (+110-115 mm), wheelbase - 2.95 m (+80 mm). In terms of body shape, the model is now closer to a fastback, although Lexus still calls ES a sedan. The stern has become more streamlined, although it has retained its trademark kink in the rear pillars area.

The front part got rid of the massive "spindle-shaped" grille: it was replaced by a more compact panel with narrow headlights and a new LED signature in the form of a double L. The rear end is adorned with a through LED strip with illuminated logo.
Inside, the ES follows the Tazuna principle - ergonomics are geared towards minimal eye and hand movement. The cabin combines physical buttons and touchscreen panels that are illuminated only when needed. The digital instrument panel is 12.3 inches diagonal, while the multimedia is controlled via a 14-inch touchscreen display.

Hybrid versions
- ES 300h (for Western Europe): updated self-charging hybrid with a 2.5-litre engine and a combined output of 201 hp (148 kW). Available with front- or all-wheel drive.
- ES 350h (for Eastern Europe, including Ukraine and Moldova): also with a 2.5-litre engine, but with a combined output of 247 hp (182 kW). Drive - front or all-wheel drive.
Electric modifications
- ES 350e: front-wheel drive, 224 hp (165 kW) electric motor, 77 kWh battery, acceleration to 100 km/h - 8.2 seconds.
- ES 500e: all-wheel drive, 343 hp (252 kW), 75 kWh battery, acceleration to 100 km/h - 5.7 seconds.
Both hybrids and electric versions of the Lexus ES are built on the new GA-K architecture with eAxle - compact modules that combine the gearbox and power electronics. The batteries are located under the floor, reducing the centre of gravity. Maximum range is expected to be up to 530 kilometres (WLTP) and fast charging to 80 per cent takes about 30 minutes.
Sales of the new Lexus ES in Europe will start in spring 2026. The base version of the ES 300h now costs from €55,350, but with the introduction of new technologies and battery versions, the starting price is likely to rise above €60,000.
