NetherRealm has officially ended support for Mortal Kombat 1 - no more DLC

After numerous rumours and hints, NetherRealm Studios has officially confirmed: Mortal Kombat 1 will no longer receive any new DLC characters or story chapters.
We are hearing players' requests for continued game support of Mortal Kombat 1, and, while we will continue to support Mortal Kombat 1 through balance adjustments and fixes, there will be no additional DLC characters or story chapters released from this point on.

Here's What We Know
In its statement, the studio noted that balance adjustments and technical support will continue, but the main focus is now shifting to the next project, which the developers want to make "as cool as possible". NetherRealm understands that this decision will upset some fans.
The last major addition - Khaos Reigns from Kombat Pack 2 - appeared in September 2024, but did not meet expectations. Further plans, including Kombat Pack 3, have apparently been cancelled due to weak sales.
Where To Play
Mortal Kombat 1 was released in September 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
