At the WWDC 2025 conference, Apple announced macOS Tahoe 26, a new version of the Mac operating system with a redesign and a lot of innovations. Among them are the updated Spotlight search, the Phone app, support for Live Activities, and enhanced Apple Intelligence capabilities.

Here's What We Know

The interface has a new Liquid Glass style with updated icons, a redesigned Control Center, and other visual changes. For the first time on a Mac, the Phone app is now available to view contacts, calls, and voicemail.

Spotlight search has been completely redesigned to show results from files, events, apps, and even third-party cloud services in one convenient window. In addition, a new Quick Actions feature has been added, allowing you to execute commands immediately without having to go through any extra steps. Spotlight also integrates with iPhone apps through the iPhone Mirroring feature.

Live Activities from iPhone is now available on Mac, allowing you to follow flights and other events in real time.

Apple Intelligence has added real-time translation to Messages and FaceTime, as well as improvements to Genmoji, Image Playground, and the Quick Commands library.

There's also a new Games app - a single place to play games and chat with friends while playing. And Game Overlay allows you to change settings and open a chat without leaving the game.

Other updates include backgrounds and polls in Messages group chats, the Journal app, new filters in Photos, smart task organisation in Reminders, and Markdown support in Notes.

macOS Tahoe 26 is already available for developers. The general release is expected in autumn.
