Apple introduced the new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 chip — 1.6 times more powerful graphics and 3.5 times the AI-core for the same price
Apple has officially announced the 14-inch MacBook Pro. The key feature of the laptop is the new Apple M5 processor, which has received performance improvements, especially in computing tasks of local artificial intelligence models and graphical performance. According to the company, the Apple M5 is the most productive processor in the world for multicore computations.
Features of the new Apple M5 processor
- 10-core next-generation GPU with Neural Accelerator in each core — 20% higher multicore performance compared to M4 and 6 times compared to M1
- Up to 1.6x more powerful graphics compared to M4 and 6.8 times compared to M1
- 16-core Neural Engine — up to 3.5x more powerful local AI-task processing compared to M4 and 7.7 times compared to M1
- 10-core CPU with 20% higher multithreaded performance
- SSD is twice as fast as the model with M4
- Memory bandwidth — 153 GB/s (compared to 120 GB/s in M4)
Other features of the 14" MacBook Pro M5:
- Up to 24 hours of battery life (4 hours more than models with M1)
- Liquid Retina XDR display with nano-texture coating (optional for $150)
- 16/24/32 GB of unified memory (+$200 and +$400 respectively)
- Base SSD capacity 512 GB, maximum 4 TB (previously maximum was 2 TB)
- 12 MP camera with Center Stage support
- Audio system with six speakers
- Ports: 3 USB-C with Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, full-size SDXC, 3.5 mm audio jack, MagSafe 3 power port
- Support for Apple Intelligence
- OS macOS Tahoe
Pre-orders for the 14" MacBook Pro M5 are available from today, with direct sales starting on October 22. Prices in the US start at $1599 (excluding tax) for the version with 16/512 GB and a screen without anti-glare coating. Available colors: black (space black) and silver.
Apple has not yet introduced the updated 16-inch MacBook Pro with M5, as well as the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips — they are expected in early 2026.
