LG Smart TV with webOS will receive expanded access to news content
LG Electronics has introduced a webOS update for smart TVs. The innovations focus on access to news content: users will be able to follow current events faster thanks to the new interface, updated browser, special news portal, and integration with leading services.
What's Known
A key element of the update is the expanded integration with the Haystack News platform, which consolidates over 400 news sources from around the world and has over 40 million registered users. Starting from 2026, new models of LG Smart TV sold in the USA and Canada will receive the Magic Remote with a special button for quick access to Haystack News. In selected regions, the service will also be available through the News Portal and built-in browser on TVs with webOS 25 and newer versions.
The updated News Portal provides quick access to the news feed, LG Channels live streams, LG Radio+ podcasts, and videos from leading media. The platform is already active in nine countries: USA, UK, Mexico, Brazil, Germany, Spain, Italy, France, and South Korea.
In addition to the portal, LG has updated the built-in browser. It received a localized search engine with regional results, quick links to popular sites, and sections with trending and personalized news. The interface is supplemented with Trending News and Picks for You blocks, simplifying the search for relevant information.
The company notes that the update expands access to free content and adapts it to user interests depending on the region.
