Insiders are no longer doubting that this week will see the presentation of the long-awaited Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake with the subtitle Resynced and even named a date — April 16.

The only question is whether Ubisoft will organize a separate showing or announce the game as part of the State of Play show, which is also expected on April 16. While we await the answer, interesting information about the updated pirate action has appeared online.

What is known

The Indonesian rating agency IGRS has discovered the age rating for Black Flag: Resynced. Like the original game, it is not recommended for anyone under the age of 18 due to the presence of explicit language, alcohol consumption, and violent scenes. However, that is not the main point. The game's description states that the remake will feature “new characters and stories.” This thesis confirms earlier insights about expanding the main storyline and adding new lines.

This title breathes new life into the beloved fan game while remaining true to the original. It tells the story of the charismatic pirate and assassin Edward Kenway, who travels the 18th-century Caribbean Sea, engages in parkour in cities, and participates in naval battles in search of wealth and glory. The 2026 updated version brings new characters and stories.

Recall that earlier insiders reported that Ubisoft would completely remove all episodes from the game that take place in the 21st century in Abstergo corporation offices since gameplay in those sections was dull and involved wandering around office spaces, solving simple puzzles, and searching for scattered barcodes. Removing these episodes will definitely benefit the game, especially since gamers will be offered an enhanced main story about Edward Kenway instead.

Developers will add several hours of new content, including elements that didn't make it to the final version of the original game, for example, Mary Read's story will get a little exposition.

The remake is being created on the most current version of the Anvil engine, which was used in the development of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and the gameplay will feature more RPG elements, such as players being able to pick up gear items that will differ in their characteristics. The importance of weather effects will also increase.

Movement between sea and land in Assassin's Creed Black Flag: Resynced will become seamless and will not be accompanied by a loading screen, but the size of the open world will remain the same, although there will be more additional activities in certain locations.
