IKEA's division in Saudi Arabia has devised an elegant way to make visiting their stores comfortable, engaging, and less stressful for those who are irritated by long wanderings through the labyrinthine halls.

As part of supporting a government program aimed at popularizing an active lifestyle, in four cities (Jeddah, Medina, Riyadh, and Dhahran), IKEA visitors are given special fitness trackers at the entrance. The idea is simple: after completing 4000 steps in the store, an IKEA Family loyalty program participant will receive a 10% discount on the final purchase total.

It is not yet known if a similar initiative will be launched in other countries, but we are sure it would brighten the tedious visit to IKEA for many shoppers.

P.S. Marketers of other chains should take note of the Step Buy Step idea.
