Huawei Unveils Pura 90 Series with 200MP Zoom Camera and Bold Design
A large-scale presentation of Huawei took place in China, during which the brand introduced a new flagship line of smartphones - Huawei Pura 90. The series once again bets on innovations in mobile photography and a return to its own chip manufacturing technologies, but this time they add a bright and daring design.
The new lineup includes three main models: Pura 90, Pura 90 Pro, and the top-tier Pura 90 Pro Max.
Revolutionary zoom camera
The true star of the presentation was the Pura 90 Pro Max model. For the first time in the industry, Huawei applied a 200 MP periscope telephoto lens with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor. This provides incredible clarity with hybrid zoom and significantly improves image quality in low light conditions.
The main module has received 50 MP, a variable aperture of $f/1.4–f/4.0$, and an XMAGE system, while the ultra-wide-angle lens offers 40 MP.
New generation of Kirin processors
The lineup is powered by new self-developed chipsets:
- Kirin 9030 Pro - exclusive to the Pro Max model
- Kirin 9030 - for the Pro version
- Kirin 9020 - for the basic Pura 90 version.
According to the company, the new chips provide a 40% performance increase over the previous generation and significantly enhance AI image processing capabilities.
Design and displays
Huawei has moved away from heavily curved edges in favor of flat frames and minimally rounded screens.
The Pura 90 Pro Max features a 6.9” LTPO OLED screen with next-generation Kunlun Glass protective coating.
The series offers bright gradient colors, including bright orange, emerald, and “Golden Sand.” The recognizable triangular camera block has also been retained.
Autonomy and software
The smartphones are equipped with impressive batteries: from 6000 mAh in the Pro versions to 6500 mAh in the base model (with a body thickness of only 6.9 mm). Fast wired and wireless charging up to 100 W is supported. Devices run on HarmonyOS 6.1.

When to expect
Sales in China start on April 22. There is no information yet on global launch plans, but it is expected closer to summer.
