Nicolas Cage Faces Iconic Foes in Gritty 'Spider-Noir' Series Set During the Great Depression
Sony Pictures and Amazon have released an exclusive video on the IGN channel, dedicated to the Spider-Noir series, based on one of the most unusual and conceptual series of Spider-Man comics from Marvel.
What is known
The main role in "Spider-Noir" will be played by Hollywood star and Oscar winner Nicolas Cage, but the video introduces viewers to the noir Spider-Man's enemies, who, however, are well known to the franchise's fans.
The protagonist will have to face Silvermane, Sandman, Tombstone, and Megawatt, whose roles will be played by Brendan Gleeson, Jack Huston, Abraham Popoola, and Andrew Lewis Caldwell, respectively.
The villains will retain their main features, for example, Tombstone possesses full bulletproof ability and immense physical strength, while Megawatt, as always, attacks with electric discharges, but the creators wanted to show the characters' personalities and motivations from new angles.
Events in "Spider-Noir" unfold in New York during the Great Depression, and the superhero abilities in this story belong to the unlucky detective Ben Reilly, who will face the sins of his past as the only superhero in the city.
Interestingly, the series will be released in two versions immediately: authentic black-and-white and full-color. The project's atmosphere is emphasized by the slogan: "With the absence of power comes the absence of responsibility," which is the absolute opposite of Uncle Ben's words from the original Spider-Man franchise.
The series will be released on the Prime Video platform on May 27, 2026. All episodes will be immediately available to viewers.
