LG's new 25G590B is the world's first 1000Hz monitor at full 1080p

LG has announced the UltraGear 25G590B, the world's first gaming monitor to run at 1000Hz natively at Full HD (1920×1080) resolution. Every previous 1000Hz display — including models from Philips and HKC — topped out at 720p to hit that refresh rate. LG's panel does it at a full step higher, which matters most to competitive players who need every millisecond of visual response they can get.

The spec

The 25G590B uses a 24.5-inch IPS panel, the format most esports players prefer over TN for its wider viewing angles and better color. LG's Motion Blur Reduction Pro technology is on board to cut ghosting during fast movement. The monitor also carries two on-device AI features: Scene Optimization, which adjusts image parameters based on game genre, and AI Sound, which processes spatial audio and in-game voice clarity when used with a compatible headset. Neither feature has been independently benchmarked yet — third-party validation from outlets like Hardware Unboxed and TechPowerUp will be the real test.

Who it's actually for

A 1000Hz refresh rate is irrelevant to most buyers. It's built for tournament-level FPS play — think CS2 or Valorant — where competitors routinely drop resolution and kill every visual effect to squeeze out frame-rate headroom. If you prefer story-driven games at high settings, this monitor isn't aimed at you.

The existing competition in this bracket runs at 240–360Hz: BenQ Zowie's esports lineup and ASUS ROG Swift panels sit roughly in the $300–600 range and dominate tournament setups right now. LG's 1000Hz jump has no direct retail rival, though that comparison will shift once pricing is known. For context, Samsung's Odyssey G8 G80HS — a very different 6K-resolution flagship — carries an estimated $1,700 price tag, which illustrates just how high the premium end of the gaming monitor market has climbed.

Availability

LG hasn't disclosed a price or a firm release date for the 25G590B, per the LG Official Newsroom. The monitor is expected to arrive in the second half of 2026. Watch Amazon US, Amazon UK, Newegg, and Best Buy for listings once LG confirms retail details.
