Lords of the Fallen 2 could come to Steam after CI Games cuts Epic exclusivity deal
Lords of the Fallen 2 is no longer bound to the Epic Games Store on PC. CI Games, the Polish studio behind the 2023 action-RPG, terminated its exclusive publishing deal with Epic on April 14, 2026 — a move the company only disclosed to investors on May 18. The sequel can now launch on Steam and any other PC storefront, though a Steam listing hasn't been confirmed yet.
The deal
In June 2024, CI Games signed a binding publishing agreement granting Epic exclusive PC distribution rights for Lords of the Fallen 2 across its entire product lifecycle. That agreement is now void. CI Games said it withheld the news for weeks because early disclosure "could have been damaging to CI Games' legitimate interests," per Game Developer.
The Epic Games Store page for the game is still the only PC listing live right now. The financial terms of the split haven't been disclosed, and the filing described the termination as "conditional in nature" without elaborating on what those conditions are.
What it means for players
Epic exclusivity has been a sore point with PC players for years. Steam dominates the English-speaking market, and titles locked to the Epic Games Store routinely face complaints about discoverability and missing features. The 2023 Lords of the Fallen sold 2.5 million copies and only broke even on its $80.45 million budget by the end of February 2026 — a long road that arguably shows the cost of friction in distribution.
CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski had previously hinted the sequel might find its way to Steam under the right conditions, notes The Escapist. He's shown a pattern of listening to community feedback — most recently running a player poll on female armor design. The Epic exit fits that same posture.
Importantly for anyone already invested in the Unreal Engine side of things: CI Games confirmed it is continuing its technical partnership with Epic, including use of Unreal Engine 5. The publishing split does not affect the game's development tools.
The release
No release date has been set for Lords of the Fallen 2. CI Games says one will be announced at a summer games showcase. The game is confirmed for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with global marketing handled by Plaion (the publisher formerly known as Deep Silver).
