Oppo has unveiled the Pad 6 in China, its new flagship Android tablet starting at $515 — about $100 more than the Pad 5. The bump comes with a faster chip and a sharper display, but the gains are incremental rather than transformative, per Gizmochina. Whether it reaches the US or UK anytime soon is an open question.

The screen

The Pad 6 has a 12.1-inch IPS display running at 3000 × 2120 pixels — Oppo calls it 3K — with a 144Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 900 nits. The 7:5 aspect ratio sits closer to a sheet of paper than a widescreen TV, which makes it practical for reading and documents.

Oppo also sells a Soft Light Edition variant with a nano-textured matte coating that the company claims cuts glare by 97%. That model adds a black-and-white reading mode for extended use.

The hardware

Inside is MediaTek's Dimensity 9500s built on a 3nm process, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Oppo claims an AnTuTu score above 3.06 million, according to Notebookcheck. The tablet is 5.99mm thin and weighs 577g, with six stereo speakers and Dolby Vision support.

Battery capacity is 10,420 mAh with 67W fast charging. Oppo claims up to 56 days of standby and at least four years of use before the battery degrades — manufacturer figures, not independently tested yet.

The software

The Pad 6 ships with ColorOS 16 on Android 16. AI features include real-time lecture transcription, handwriting cleanup, and a sketch-to-illustration tool that tidies up rough stylus drawings. Multi-window support and a bundled WPS Office suite target students and office users. Cross-platform file sharing works with both Apple and Android devices.

Neither a fingerprint scanner nor a SIM slot is included — the only biometric is facial recognition. The compatible stylus and keyboard cover are sold separately.

The price and availability

The base 8GB/256GB model is priced at the equivalent of $515, with the top 16GB/512GB configuration at $630. The tablet is available for pre-order in China in silver, grey, and light blue.

Global launch timing has not been announced. Older Oppo tablets have historically been slow to reach US and UK retail — the Pad 5 never officially launched in either market — so don't plan around a near-term release.
