Nintendo is set to hold its first major Direct presentation in nine months during the second week of June 2026, according to well-known gaming insider Nate the Hate. The last general Direct aired in September 2025, making this a long-overdue catch-up for Switch 2 owners and anyone still deciding whether to buy the console. The timing is pointed: Nintendo confirmed a €30/$30 global price increase takes effect September 1, 2026, giving consumers a shrinking window to buy at the current price.

Nine months of silence

Nate the Hate flagged the June 8–10 timeframe on his podcast, describing it as a full-scale Direct packed with major announcements — not a mini showcase or a game-specific presentation. His Nintendo track record is strong, though not perfect; specific titles rumoured for the show remain unconfirmed. What's clear is the business pressure: nearly all the Switch 2 launch titles have already shipped, and Nintendo needs new software to justify the hardware price before it climbs higher.

Crowded week

The Direct lands in the middle of the busiest gaming week of the year. Summer Game Fest runs June 5, followed by the Future Games Show on June 6 and the Xbox Games Showcase on June 7 — per GamesRadar. Nintendo isn't listed as a direct participant in any of those events, but slotting its own show immediately after keeps it in the conversation without sharing a stage.

For UK buyers, the Switch 2 currently retails at £395.99 at Game, Currys, and other major retailers. In the US, the base console sits at its current launch price. Both markets will see that figure rise on September 1 according to Nintendo's FY2026 earnings, with a memory chip shortage cited as the official reason. A strong Direct — loaded with release dates and new titles — would be the clearest signal yet that the Switch 2 library is picking up speed before that deadline hits.
