Realme has launched the P4x 4G, a budget Android phone built around an unusually large 8000 mAh battery — nearly twice what most rivals fit into this price bracket. It went on sale in the Philippines at ₱15,999 (roughly $195), but there's no confirmed release date or pricing for the US or UK yet.

The battery case

Most affordable phones top out at 5000 mAh. Realme is doubling down with 8000 mAh and claiming up to 10 hours of continuous gaming. Take that figure with some skepticism — Technobaboy's Philippines launch confirms the specs, but independent lab tests haven't caught up yet. A review of the related P4x 5G (7000 mAh) by Beebom found around two days of real-world screen-on time — which is more realistic and still impressive for a sub-$200 device.

Charging is 45W wired, which is adequate but not class-leading at this price. There's also 6W reverse charging, so you can top up wireless earbuds or a friend's phone in a pinch.

The trade-offs

To hit that price and battery size, Realme made some clear compromises. The 6.8-inch display runs at HD+ resolution (1570×720) — sharper Full HD panels are now common even below $200. The 120Hz refresh rate keeps scrolling smooth, and 900 nits peak brightness handles outdoor use well. Cooling is handled by a large vapor chamber system spanning over 11,000 mm², which sounds oversized for the UNISOC T7250 chip inside, paired with 4GB of RAM and 256GB of eMMC 5.1 storage.

The phone ships with Android 16 and Realme UI 7.0 — getting a current Android version at this price is a genuine plus. Google Gemini is accessible via a dedicated button on the power key, which puts AI access within budget-phone territory.

Cameras and extras

The rear camera is a 50MP main shooter — fine in good light, limited in low light given there's no optical image stabilization. The front camera is 5MP, enough for video calls. On the practical side, there's a 3.5mm headphone jack, IP64 dust and splash resistance, military-grade durability certification, and a customizable notification LED.

Availability

Right now, the P4x 4G is a Philippines exclusive. Realme's P-series has reached Europe and other markets before, so a broader rollout is possible — but nothing is confirmed for the US, UK, or Europe. If you're shopping for big-battery budget phones now, the Motorola Moto G57 Power (7000 mAh) and Samsung Galaxy A-series are the easier finds in Western markets.
