ASUS has launched the ROG Strix OLED XG34WCDMS in Europe, priced at €919.90 — roughly £750 based on current listings, though no official UK RRP has been confirmed. The monitor uses a 34-inch Tandem QD-OLED panel running at 280Hz, placing it one step below ASUS's own 360Hz ROG Swift PG34WCDN flagship while saving buyers around €300.
The panel
The XG34WCDMS uses Samsung Display's fifth-generation Tandem QD-OLED technology, which stacks two OLED layers to boost brightness and, according to ASUS, cut burn-in risk by 50% compared to single-layer OLED panels. The 3440×1440 (UWQHD) screen curves at an 800R radius and hits 1,300 nits peak brightness in HDR mode at 3% APL, with 99% DCI-P3 color coverage and a Delta E under 2 out of the box. Response time is rated at 0.03ms GtG. A BlackShield anti-scratch coating — part of Samsung's Gen 5 panel spec — also helps lift black levels. The 280Hz refresh rate puts it in the same tier as the upcoming Dell Alienware AW3426DW, which TechSpot expects around $800 in the US later in 2026.
The catch
The connectivity list is solid on paper: DisplayPort 1.4, two HDMI 2.1 ports, a built-in KVM switch, and a top-mounted tripod mount for a webcam or light. The weak point is USB-C. The port delivers only 15W Power Delivery — enough to trickle-charge a phone, not nearly enough to power a laptop during a gaming or work session. The flagship PG34WCDN manages 90W over USB-C, and rivals are pushing the same. Notebookcheck flagged this as a clear cost-cutting measure; for anyone who wants a single-cable desk setup, it's a real limitation.
