Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is the headliner for PlayStation Plus in July 2026 — a rare AAA blockbuster dropped into an Essential-tier month. All three games are available across every PS Plus tier (Essential, Extra, and Premium) from July 7 through August 3, 2026. If you've been holding off on MW3, this is the easiest entry point yet.

The games

PlayStation Blog confirms the full lineup:

- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III — Cross-Gen Bundle (PS4/PS5): The 2023 sequel to MW2 brings the campaign forward, restores all 16 maps that launched with Modern Warfare 2 in 2009 with upgraded graphics, and introduces a new open-world Zombies mode where squads can team up with other squads for the first time in franchise history. - For the King II (PS4/PS5): A roguelike tabletop RPG set in the procedurally generated kingdom of Fahrul. Play solo or with up to four players in co-op. - CrossCode (PS4/PS5): A 2018 action RPG with 16-bit visuals, a sci-fi story, and a puzzle-combat hybrid that holds up well eight years later.

Worth your time?

Modern Warfare III's campaign landed with mixed reviews on release — critics called it a short and forgettable iteration on the franchise. The real pull here is multiplayer: the 16 remastered MW2 maps are a nostalgia hit for anyone who put time into the 2009 original, and the revamped Zombies mode's open-world squad format is genuinely new ground for the series.

For the King II and CrossCode skew toward players who enjoy turn-based tactics or retro RPGs — a different crowd from the CoD faithful, but both are well-regarded titles worth grabbing while they're free.

What's leaving

Twelve games are removed from the catalog on July 21, so claim them before then if you want to keep access. The list includes Risk of Rain 2, Tropico 6, Clash: Artifacts of Chaos, Röki, Source of Madness, Cursed to Golf, Hundred Days, Onee Chanbara Origin, Get Even, Bomber Crew, Space Crew: Legendary Edition, and Infinite Minigolf.

All three July titles are available to add from July 7 — no extra cost beyond your existing PS Plus subscription, per Push Square.
