Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 8 is shaping up to be a style-first upgrade: official renders have leaked showing the clamshell in four colors, while the hardware changes over the Z Flip 7 are minimal at best. The phone is set to be announced on July 22 at Galaxy Unpacked in London, with retail availability expected from August 7.

The look

AndroidHeadlines published official renders confirming three standard colors — Cream, Graphite, and Pink — with a Mint variant likely exclusive to Samsung's own store. No renders of the Mint option have surfaced yet.

Design-wise, the Z Flip 8 is nearly impossible to tell apart from its predecessor. The only meaningful physical change is a 0.5mm reduction in folded thickness, bringing it to 13.2mm versus the Z Flip 7's 13.7mm. Weight drops slightly to 180g, down from 188g. That's the extent of the visible evolution.

The chip split

Here's where things get more interesting depending on where you buy. Notebookcheck confirms the UK price at £1,149 for 256GB, and EU pricing sits at €1,299. Buyers in the US and Australia will get Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while UK and European units ship with Samsung's own Exynos 2600 — a regional split that reverses the unified chipset approach Samsung used with the Z Flip 7.

Per TechCabal, Samsung's internal position is that Flip buyers prioritize portability over raw processing power, which makes the Exynos trade-off more palatable. The Exynos 2600 is a 2nm chip and handles day-to-day tasks and Galaxy AI features without issue — it's gaming benchmarks and sustained loads where the gap with Snapdragon widens.

The specs

Under the hood, all variants are expected to carry 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 or 4.1 storage. The main camera stays at 50MP, paired with a 12MP ultrawide. Battery capacity is reported at 4,300mAh with 25W wired charging. The main display is a 6.9-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X at 120Hz; the cover screen is a 4.1-inch Super AMOLED, also at 120Hz.

Worth the wait?

If you skipped the Z Flip 7, the Z Flip 8 offers a lighter build, refined colors, and the latest Galaxy AI software in One UI 9 — enough to justify an upgrade from a Flip 5 or older. For Z Flip 7 owners, there's little here to compel a switch. Pre-orders open July 22; units hit shelves August 7 across major UK carriers including O2 and Vodafone, as well as Amazon UK.
