Redmi 17 4G leaked: 7,500mAh battery and 120Hz screen for around €250
Xiaomi is preparing a new budget Android phone — the Redmi 17 4G — and full specs and renders have leaked ahead of any official announcement. The device slots in as the successor to the Redmi 15 and carries a projected European price of around €250–280 (roughly £210–235), putting it squarely in the territory of the Samsung Galaxy A-series. No UK or US launch date has been confirmed, but regulatory certifications in multiple markets suggest a broad rollout is coming.
The look
The Redmi 17 4G gets a redesigned rear camera block that now incorporates an accent light ring — think notification indicator built into the camera module rather than a front LED. The phone comes in four colours: Deep Blue, Black, Oak Green, and Lotus Purple. It measures 170.12 x 78.42 x 8.8 mm and weighs 232g, with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button.
The specs
The screen is a flat 6.9-inch IPS panel running at 120Hz — up from 90Hz on earlier budget Redmi models — though resolution stays at HD+ (1600 x 720). Inside sits a MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra on a 12nm process, paired with 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. That chip handles social media, video streaming, and light gaming without trouble, but it's not built for sustained heavy gaming loads.
The big headline is the battery: 7,500mAh, up from 7,000mAh in the Redmi 15. Charging bumps from 33W to 45W. On the camera side, the rear dual system leads with a 50MP main sensor; the front camera is 8MP. The phone runs HyperOS 3.0 on Android 16, and NFC is included — useful for contactless payments.
There's no 5G, which is the obvious trade-off at this price. That's a reasonable compromise for buyers who prioritise battery life and screen smoothness over network speed, or who live in areas where 5G coverage is still patchy.
What to expect
Pricing leaks peg the 4GB/128GB model at around €250 and the 6GB/256GB at €280, per a YtechB exclusive leak. These are estimates, not official figures. XimiTime spec summary places the launch as targeting emerging markets first, with broader availability likely in Q4 2026. UK retailers such as Argos and Carphone Warehouse have not yet listed it. No US availability has been mentioned.
