Marvel's Wolverine launches September 15 as a PS5 exclusive — no PC, no PS4
Marvel's Wolverine has a firm release date: September 15, 2026, exclusively on PlayStation 5. Developed by Insomniac Games — the studio behind Marvel's Spider-Man — the game is priced at £69.99 in the UK and $69.99 in the US for the Standard Edition. There is no PC version announced, no PS4 port, and Sony has confirmed physical disc copies will be available at launch.
Sony released a new trailer titled "Ain't No Hero," which focuses on Logan's brutality and emotional torment rather than showing any in-game action. Expect that to divide opinion.
The story
The game is set across several locations — the island state of Madripoor, the Canadian wilderness, and the streets of Tokyo. Logan's allies from the X-Men have been captured by cyborgs, and he sets out to free them. The deeper arc involves Logan uncovering secrets from his past and, eventually, accepting what he is. Previous footage showed Jean Grey on Logan's side, with Sabretooth and Mystique among the enemies.
Gameplay is a third-person action format: melee combos, signature abilities, platforming sections, and light puzzles between fights. Insomniac describes the tone as considerably darker and more violent than its Spider-Man titles.
Editions and price
The Digital Deluxe Edition costs £79.99 / $79.99 and includes five exclusive suits and a matching claw set. Pre-order bonuses across all retailers include a Classic Brown suit, Reflective Claws, one Technique Point, and four avatars. In the UK, the game is available to pre-order now through PlayStation Direct, Currys, Amazon.co.uk, and ShopTo.net — with Currys and ShopTo already listing below the standard RRP.
PS5 Pro owners get Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscaling for sharper visuals, per PlayStation Blog June 2026. Unlike the open-world Spider-Man games, Wolverine uses a linear level structure — closer to a cinematic action game than a sandbox.
Sony has tied this game to the PS5 platform through at least 2036, making it one of the console's marquee exclusives heading into the back half of the generation.
