Colorful Rimbook L1 Plus: Lightweight 16-Inch Laptop Redefines Portability with AMD Power
The Chinese brand Colorful, which we are used to seeing in the segment of graphics cards and motherboards, has decided to remind us of its presence in the portable computer market. The new Rimbook L1 Plus is an attempt to create a versatile "workhorse" for those who are tired of choosing between a large screen and a healthy back. For a price of about $890 (40,000 UAH), the manufacturer offers a combination of lightness and a decent diagonal, which is not so common in the 16-inch segment.
Big display in a light format
The main feature of the laptop is its physical parameters. At a thickness of 17 mm, the device weighs only 1.4 kg. For comparison, most 16-inch competitors usually exceed the mark of 1.8-2 kg. Achieving such a result without the use of exotic materials like magnesium alloys is difficult, so Colorful has clearly worked on the internal layout to avoid making the user flex muscles during every move to another coworking space.
The screen here is not only large but also quite decent in its characteristics. It is an IPS panel with a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels (aspect ratio 16:10, which is much more convenient for working with text than the classic 16:9). The refresh rate is 120 Hz—a pleasant bonus that makes the interface smoother, although the device is not positioned as a gaming one. Brightness at 300 cd/m² can be called the necessary minimum for comfortable work indoors, but under direct sunlight, it may not be sufficient.
Proven AMD platform
The heart of the system is an AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS processor. This is an eight-core chip built on the Zen 3+ architecture. Although it belongs to the 7000 series, it is actually an updated Rembrandt. However, it should not be underestimated: the processor has 16 threads and operates at a frequency of up to 4.75 GHz. Its main advantage for a thin laptop is the integrated Radeon 680M graphics. It allows not only viewing 4K videos but also running less demanding games or working in graphic editors without the help of a discrete video card, which would turn this "thin body" into a hot brick.

Memory and expansion capabilities
In the basic configuration, the Colorful Rimbook L1 Plus offers 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD. Importantly, the drive operates through a fast PCIe 4.0 interface. For those who find half a terabyte too little (which is quite possible by 2026), the manufacturer has left a second free slot for an SSD. This is a big plus, as in the pursuit of minimal thickness, developers often solder everything onto the board, depriving the user of the possibility of a simple upgrade.
The autonomy is provided by a 65 Wh battery. Given the energy efficiency of Ryzen processors, you can count on a full working day in office task mode. The device also supports modern wireless communication standards Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. Although Colorful Rimbook L1 Plus does not claim to be a technological breakthrough, it appears to be a balanced offer for those who need a large screen in the "always with you" format.
