Telltale has confirmed that The Wolf Among Us Remastered launches October 29, 2026, on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. A new trailer shown at Gamescom 2026 revealed the release date and gave the clearest look yet at the updated game. The announcement doubles as a signal that Telltale's revival is real — and that the long-suffering sequel is finally on its way.

The remaster

The original game ran from 2014 to 2015 across five episodes and is set in a dark, gritty version of the DC/Vertigo Fables comic universe. You play as Bigby Wolf — the Big Bad Wolf in human form — investigating a murder among fairy-tale characters living in secret in New York City. The writing and player-choice mechanics earned it a devoted following, and it's aged well enough that many fans never stopped hoping for more.

The remaster brings sharper visuals, smoother animations, and better overall performance on current hardware. The headline new addition is Noir Mode, which strips the game down to black and white and changes how the whole thing feels — less pulp comic, more classic detective film.

Physical editions are confirmed but will arrive after the October 29 digital launch. Pricing has not been announced yet for any platform or region.

The sequel

The bigger news tucked into the announcement is that The Wolf Among Us 2 now has a 2027 release window, as confirmed by 80.lv. That matters because the sequel has had one of the rougher development histories in recent memory. Telltale originally announced it around 2017, then went bankrupt in 2018, shutting down almost overnight. A revived Telltale eventually restarted development, but a partnership with AdHoc Studio dissolved and the project had to begin again. The remaster arriving first makes sense as a way to rebuild the audience before the follow-up lands.

No Game Pass or PS Plus inclusion has been announced. The Steam page is live but pricing is still absent — that detail should surface closer to launch. For anyone who missed the original, the remaster is a natural entry point; for those who played it years ago, Noir Mode gives a reason to go back before the sequel arrives, per Gematsu.
