Xiaomi is announcing two new wearables on September 22: the Watch S5 41mm smartwatch and the REDMI Buds 8s earbuds. The watch weighs just 36g and promises up to 14 days of battery life — numbers that undercut heavier rivals like the Garmin Epix Gen 2 at 51g. Both devices are already available for pre-order in China, which typically signals an imminent global rollout.
The compact watch
The Watch S5 41mm is a smaller sibling to the 46mm model that launched in May 2026 at £149.99–£169.99 in the UK (€179.99–€199.99 in EU markets, per Gizmochina). At 9.9mm thin and 36g, it's aimed squarely at people who find most smartwatches too bulky. The white ceramic bezel and 24-facet crown give it a more traditional watch look than the usual sport-slab design.
It runs Xiaomi's HyperOS 4 — the stable version of which rolled out on September 7 — and includes health and activity tracking: workout recommendations, calorie monitoring, and UV-level alerts. The earbuds
The REDMI Buds 8s take a semi-in-ear approach — sitting at the ear canal entrance rather than sealing inside it. That design prioritizes long-wear comfort over maximum noise isolation, which puts them in the same space as the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live and OnePlus Buds Pro 2. Inside is an 11mm dynamic driver, and they support Xiaomi HyperConnect for seamless switching across other Xiaomi devices.

What to expect on launch day
Full specs, color options, and retail pricing for both devices will be confirmed closer to the September 22 sale date. Given the 46mm Watch S5's sub-£170 entry point, the 41mm version is likely to land in similar territory. For buyers outside the Xiaomi ecosystem, the battery-to-weight ratio on the watch is the main pitch — a 36g watch lasting two weeks is a genuinely rare combination at this price range.
