It has become known how Xiaomi solved a long-standing problem with the proximity sensor in Xiaomi 11T smartphones

For a long time, users of Xiaomi smartphones have been complaining about improper operation of proximity sensors, with no solution  yet. But the release of Xiaomi 11T and Xiaomi 11T Pro smartphones may change that.

What has changed?

The thing is instead of conventional sensors, Xiaomi's new products use Elliptic Labs' development - Virtual Proximity Sensor AI Virtual Proximity Sensor Inner Beauty. They run on the AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform, which helps use software-only sensor solutions that either replace or complement existing hardware sensors. Simply put, a virtual sensor can easily replace a conventional sensor with .

Earlier there were rumorsthat the Chinese manufacturer has abandoned Elliptic Labs sensors. But now the software developer assures that Xiaomi continues to use their solutions in more smartphones. Based on this, it's safe to assume with certainty that the partnership is likely to continue.

"Elliptic Labs' partnership with Xiaomi is strong, and we are pleased that the company continues to use our products in more smartphones as it has become the second largest  smartphone OEM in the world. The AI Virtual Smart Sensor Platform enables manufacturers to introduce new features without hardware sensors, reducing costs and eliminating risks associated with supply. We are confident that our Virtual Smart Sensor Platform AI will continue to deliver the savings, performance and value that innovative partners such as Xiaomi need to continue this growth", - said in a statement from Elliptic Labs.

And whether the complaints will cease once the virtual sensors start - time will tell.
