Microsoft expands access to Android apps in Windows 11

Microsoft has expanded the Windows Subsystem for Android (WSA) test program, which was introduced in Windows 11 operating system and allows users to run Android apps on their PCs.

Previously, this useful feature was only available to Windows Insider Program members in the beta channel, but now it is available to developers in the Dev channel as well. Since the WSA is in the early stages of testing, there are only 50 Android apps that users can download to their PCs from the Amazon Appstore.

At least for now, Amazon is the primary source of mobile apps for Windows 11 PCs, but it's possible that WSA will expand to other digital content distribution platforms for Android devices in the future. More Android apps are also expected to become available for Windows 11 testing in the coming months. In the meantime, a free APK installer has appeared in the Windows app store.

Be sure to keep in mind that the Android subsystem in Windows 11 does not support running apps that require Google Mobile Services.
