Apple Music app appeared on LG smart TVs
A little over a year ago, the Apple Music app debuted on Samsung smart TVs. It looks like the exclusivity period is over, so today the Apple Music app is now available in LG's smart TV app store.
This means that Apple Music subscribers can now listen to their entire music library, playlists, radio stations and more directly from their (compatible) LG smart TV, without the need for an Apple TV or other additional console.
The interface and overall user experience is very similar to what Apple TV owners get on tvOS, with the familiar tabbed bar navigation layout.

The full suite of Apple Music features appears to be supported, including full library access, editorial and algorithmic playlists, and music video clips. The Apple Music app for LG TVs also supports live display of song lyrics.
It's not yet clear whether the app supports the latest audio formats, such as Dolby Atmos or Lossless. These features typically require a lot of processing power beyond the capabilities of smart TV processors. LG's list of compatible devices hasn't been published yet either, so if you own an LG smart TV, you'll have to check the availability and installability of the Apple Music app manually.
gg would welcome any comments from readers on the availability of Dolby Atmos or Lossless in the new app.
