After three generations of Huawei Mate X, the fourth bendable smartphone from the company has received a different form factor. If the Mate lineup competed with the Galaxy Fold, then the Huawei P50 Pocket will compete for shoppers' wallets with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Motorola RAZR.
What is known
Naturally, the new product was compared with the Samsung clamshell at the presentation. The model is distinguished by new hinges, due to which the two parts of the device are located strictly parallel to each other. There is practically no gap when folded.
Huawei O50 Pocket is equipped with a 6.9 ”display with 21 to 9 aspect ratios and support for 120 Hz. The resolution was 2790 x 1188 pixels. An additional round screen with a diameter of 1 ”is installed on the back side under the camera. It can be used to display a variety of information, including widgets, QR codes, and notifications.
The hardware platform is built around the Snapdragon 888 SoC without 5G support, just like the Huawei P50 Pro. The battery has a capacity of 4000 mAh and supports wire charging. The power was 44 W. The smartphone will enter the market with 8/12 GB of RAM and a storage capacity of 256/512 GB.
The model has retained the front camera, which is located in the cutout of the main screen. It has a resolution of 10.7 MP. The main camera has a main and ultra-wide-angle modules of 40 MP and 13 MP, respectively, as well as a 32-MP b / w sensor.
The biometric sensor is integrated into the power key. There are no stereo speakers in the Huawei P50 Pocket. But there is Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2 and NFC. Folded dimensions were 87.3 x 75.5 x 15.2 mm, and unfolded - 170 x 75.5 x 7.2 mm. The novelty weighs in both cases 190 g.

The smartphone will go on sale with HarmonyOS 2.0 preinstalled in black, white and gold. You will have to pay for the Huawei P50 Pocket at least $ 1,410. The cost of the top version was $ 1,725. The global version of the flagship will appear, but the timing is not yet known. In China, sales will start today, December 23rd.
